So i have recently bought a 1987 mazda b2600 and its in fairly rough shape so my plan is to do an engine swap due to too weak of an engine with the 2.6L little four cylinder that couldnt hahaha. But im wanting to do a v8 swap prefferibly with a 5.7L from a chevy 2500 but how hard is that going to be i figured im going to need to buy a donor truck so i can get the trans and transfer case as well then do an axel swap with the front and rear with dana 60s is that going to be any problem?:Wow1:

i figured it would be pretty easy because its a basic truck to start off and i know ill need to make new engine mounts but that should be really about it since eveyrthing should be easy after that

Since it's ranger based, why not go 5.0 from a 90s F150. There are probably dozens of these already done, and kits available to make it a quick bolt in affair. Just a thought.

I assumed this was a trolling post at first, but in the off chance that it's not, I agree with the post above, i would look at some of the ford swaps, way more kits available for the B-series(ranger) trucks. As with any swap though, I would go in assuming it's going to be absolute hell, and hopefully it wont be that bad, but given the amount of work you listed in the inital post, why not just go with a larger truck (if you're buying a doner anyway) that is going to basically be the truck you want to be driving? Rebuidling a D60 can run equal to the value of an old B-series...

Pretty sure that year is prior to when the B-Series and Ranger shared a platform. The B-Series isn't a bad platform (actually very capable) but there is literally zero aftermarket support for it unless you're outside the US. Unless of course you want to lay frame.

1994 was the first year that the Mazda was a rebadged Ranger. In 1987 it was still an all Japanese truck. ;)

I used to have one of those. Great truck until anything broke, because parts were difficult or impossible to find, even in 2005 when I sold it. Power with the stock engine was never an issue, even with a full load in the bed. I think Mazda sourced that engine from Mitsubishi.
