Purchased nearly a year ago in Germany this 1987 Swedish Firebrigade Pumptruck was finally imported May of 2023 and landed to the Port of San Diego. At the end of May i was able to fly down, retrieve the Mog from port, and make the 1200 mile trip back to my shop in Everett, WA. I packed a tool roll stacked with tools, 3/4 impact gun, and an infrared heat gun to monitor the portal axles. Camped at friends in SanClemente and the next day just outside of LA the right front portal was reading hotter than the rest (190) and i serviced both front portals at a rest stop on the hot tarmac. Left side was a little low and I drained and refilled with Valvoline 75/90. With the handthrottle set, onwards i went northbound in the heat, maintaining a howlingly brisk pace of 52 mph at 2500 rpms. One last night stay in Redding then made it back to the shop on the third evening with no issues and the portals were good around 160 for that leg.
Serviced the engine, transmission, axles, and all four portals once back at the shop and started developing issues with the air pump. Took a camping teip and them hit the NWOR rally where the pump went tits up and basically got stranded with only 8 bar to the system. Was able to source a new pump from Turkey thanks to mauoin motoworks tips, and got it replaced behind the Plain volunteer fireservice station, (thanks guys for storing the mog!)
Its now ready for its next adventure….
