1988 PROJECT S10 BLAZER

I have an 88 s10 blazer, 4x4 originally having a 2.8 v6, I've driven this for years trouble free, motor got tired and decided to replace it at 190k with a 3.4 liter from a rs Camaro. Its a direct bolt in so no modification that may cause me issues in the future, I could have gone the v8 route, but I didn't want to add that much weight to it and id rather stay with the reliability and fuel economy of the v6, but to add a little extra power, the motor has a mild RV/towing cam installed and an upgraded induction from stock. I have a small lift on order and already have a donated rack from a defender 90 that I will cut to make my own, rock sliders from a series 2 discovery that will fit nice with some mounting fabrication, almost the same wheel base. I'm very excited I found this site, I've learned a massive amount of information by reading tons of posts in the forum. Hopefully I will get more pics up soon of the work in progress.401560_10150527227696593_96044332_n.jpgphoto 1.jpgphoto 2.jpg

Very clean Blazer! Looking forward to those mods!

When I was really young, we had an '88 S10 Blazer 4x4 v6 Tahoe edition 2-door with the manual, two tone blue and white...thanks for the memories! :)

I've had 3 of them, the first one looks identical to the one in the picture except it is a 2 wheel drive sport with the 4.3 v6, and the other one was was hit and flipped by a drunk driver. I love these truck, they have potential, and are simple.

Loving it. (ive got a 1991 4.3v6 blazer)

surprised you didnt go the 4.3 route...one of the most reliable and highest torque v6 that chevy made back than.

cant wait to see the outcome.

I love the 4.3 it has great power. I didn't want to go the route of finding another transmission and computer and whatever else goes with it, the 3.4 I'm building should actually produce about the same amount of power with a little less torque than a stock 4.3, but better gas mileage, that's the plan anyway, we'll see how it works out.

I never even thought about gas mileage, sounds like your on the right track to having a great little machine.

Quick little update, transmission and transfer case should be done this week, then it all goes back together. Thinking of respraying it, nothing show quality as it will most likely get scratched. All new suspension bushings, mounts body lift(small one)shocks, ball joints, and a corvette radiator for better cooling, getting a little excited for it to be done, still have a lot of work left.IMG_5391.jpgIMG_5399.jpgIMG_5387.jpg
