- Overview:
I am selling this truck because I have come to the conclusion that the scale of the truck is just to big for me to maintain and possibly self-rescue by myself in the remote areas I hope to travel. While the truck is very easy to drive it's simply to big for me. Therefore I have stopped my project before I started the building out the com box as a camper.
I purchased this truck (6/2016) and immediately began going through the mechanical systems. I planned on building what is now called an "Overland" off-road camper.
Once the truck systems were all running well I flat-topped the bed and installed the Craig "comm box". I used the same design and parts to mount the Craig box as the bed is mounted to the truck frame (through-bolts and springs in the front and hard mounted at the back). The frame and box both flex independently without transferring excessive twist to each other.
Today the trucks runs very well, starting easily in the coldest weather and is very easy to drive.
The Craig comm box is empty but not completely gutted in that I have not removed all of the conduit and miscellaneous fitting from the interior walls. It will also need a thorough cleaning.
I have done my best to describe the current condition of the truck but you really need to see it to understand what it is and what you may be able to do with it.

- Upgrades:
- Replaced the oil cooler, flushed the cooling system and added a coolant filter with SCAs
- Added a heater cut off
- Added a Baldwin fuel filter / water separator (engine now has two fuel filters)
- Replaced the old brittle "hard" fuel lines with fuel rated rubber hose
- Flushed the transmission and replace the military spec trans oil with high quality ATF
- Replaced one "dog bone"
- Installed an electronic light controller (a manual controller is also provided)
- Added keyed door locks
- Added keyed ignition switch
- Added a spring assist to the tailgate and it is easy for one person to lift.
- Replaced ¼ ton tire hoist with a 1 ton unit
Known Problems:
- Low air pressure light intermittent (buzzer works)
- Lower passenger seat cover has been torn by my dog. This happened when I first drove the truck because I did not know the seat back folded down. I have not replace the seat cover because I planned on a seat upgrade in the cab.
- While the truck is in very good condition there is some surface rust, however there is no structural rust anywhere!
