1990 F150 - Retro Fun!

Posting from my Son, as he is working in a remote area for the summer and comms are tough.

Do you ever dream about bumbling down a remote dirt road in an old truck listening to old music, well this is the truck for you!

It is a 1990 F150 in all its 33 year old glory; worn out upholstery, non working cruise control, actual pull knobs for the under-performing lights and wipers, 5 speed manual, factory heavy duty suspension, and the drivers side door card is abysmal but works.

In the last year it has had a new transmission (rebuild), clutch, starter motor and battery. Also in the last 2 years it has driven coast to coast twice, explored Montana, Idaho, Washington and Colorado. With some side trips to Texas and Maine.

It has the 5.0L/302ci motor, and the new 5 speed transmission. The previous owner replaced the rear diff, but elected to not go with the auto locker, which shows a light on the dash. But that is the only light!

The AC works just as it did in 1990 (quite cool, inching toward cold), the 90’s era JVC cd player works and the included cd case of choice 90’s music will have you throwing the horns with Metallica or smoking the chronic with Dre and Snoop.

The camper shell is set up to carry the spare on top, with some amazon maxx traxx knock offs (but they work), and a 10 gallon manually pressurized water storage that makes for a nice shower (especially if you let it sit in the sun for a bit). The inside is set up for sleeping with a custom (2x4 and plywood) bed with a custom narrow twin mattress (the mattress is awesome) a bench seat, and a cooking area in the rear (just cooked some Australian wagyu and an awesome frittata a couple of weeks a go). Also inside the shell there is room for a small TV/monitor (much gaming has been done in the back of this truck).

This is not a modern overlanding rig. It is an old truck reliably and inexpensively built to explore back roads, camp, and have adventures (which includes driving the truck). So who is this truck for? Either an older person who wants the nostalgia of the truck, or preferably a younger person who wants to get out and have some adventures without sinking 50-60k into a modern rig.

It is what it is; an old truck that is reliable and fun if you are into it. ~220,000 mi. I have service records for most of the truck's life, as well as a shop manual. $9000 obo

The truck is in the Seattle area, with my Dad while I am over working in Montana for the summer season. You can reach out to him here on Expedition Portal.
