1990 Montero Sport 2 Door Clutch Fluid Leak

Hello,

The first problem in the situation was the clutch fluid was running dry, so I added more in there. The problem repeated itself and I looked under to see a pool of fluid under the truck. I got up under the montero and pulled back a black boot that was the size of your average cookie. All of the fluid came out in a quicker flow than just leaving it alone. Is the boot destroyed to where I need a new one and does the boot prevent the fluid from coming out? If i'm correct can someone link me to a new part and how I go about to installing it?

Thank you,

Jake

The boot simply prevents dust and water spray from getting inside the slave cylinder. A leak there generally indicates the seals are not sealing against the bore. You can replace the cylinder, or get a seal kit. For your piece of mind, and for the sake of maintenance, now is a good time to replace the master and slave cylinders, and flexible hose that connects to the slave cylinder.
