1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo

4.0L I-6 (156,+-+ Miles)
AW4 Tranny
NP231 T-Case

3.5" Rubicon Express Super Ride lift
Bilstein 5100 Front Shocks and RE Junkyard Rear Shocks
JKS Quick Disco's
31x10.50x15 BFG AT'S Black Steelies

*** First off I bought this XJ from a close friend of mine who wanted to sell it so he made me a smokin' deal I couldn't turn down (1,000$). Now that sounds like a total steal but considering within a matter of a week I had to put brand new tires($700) and a new windshield($120) it brought the price up. The entire reason I bought this Jeep was for cheap transportation in the winter when I couldn't ride my motorcycle and to also lower my insurance.

Okay, back on topic lol damn motorcycles always gets me distracted. Now where was I? Oh yes the beater heep I bought from my buddy Keith who has not one ounce of mechanical ability in his body. But he is a Paramedic and Firefighter and I would trust him with my life and a needle. But when it comes to turning a wrench and doing things the right way ehhh not soo much! His younger brother is just as bad Hahah. :sombrero:

So this is what it looked like the day that I brought her home and after a good wash.

First things first I had to wash this pig of a woman and she was a nasty straight las vegas cheap hooker on a back ally road off the strip nasty. I spent a good solid hour on just the interior let alone the exterior. The interior needed lots and lots of vacuuming. Thank god for the suction power of 6.5hp shop vac and some sweet talking and a big hose.
Gotta love the dent in the right rear quarter panel, the sun-rotted tires and broken windshield.

By the way I'm not sure who made the decision in Detroit on what carpet to use but they by far picked the nappiest hardest to clean carpet ever. After a solid 45 mins of manuel labor I got this, ehh not bad. If anyone was wondering I did collect lots of trash and money and I'm pretty sure I found a dead animal in the back somewhere or it was chicken bone. Did I mention that Keith my buddy who can't turn a wrench to save his life is also very messy and doesn't really give a ******* about his piggyness. I do love him like a brother so I can talk trash about him and he was very happy to see someone carry on this dirty princess Jeep.

Nice thing about white is that dents and scratches don't show up very easily. Here you can see -- okay not really but the right rear quater panel had a nice big soft dent. The paint wasn't chipped nor was there a crease. So it didn't seem like a big challenge to pop the dent out. Just used a 2x4, cardboard and deadblow rubber mallet.

Now most of you Jeep owners have been through a lot with your rides and you have taken more time, money and lots dedication and trying not to loose it and want to drive your POS off a tall cliff and wish it the best of luck. So when I brought the Jeep home from Keith's house thank god he only lived a few miles from my place because sitting in the drivers seat was like sitting on a two legged barstool and one leg is shorter than the other. The seat I'm not kidding here the damn thing was held in by bailing wire, twine, zip-ties and plumbers tape. ****** :Wow1: ~Seriously a death wish so this had to be fixed before anything else! So I called the dealer about ordering new seat tracks they wanted around 400$ for power seats! Just told the guy from Jeep good luck and no way in hell was I going to pay that. Since I needed this to be safe out came the welder and some flat iron and time to repair the broken seat mounts.

out came the mounts and time to cut and grind and make way for some new metal. Being 23 at the time I have only welded a handful of times when I was 15 or so.

Welds are nothing to be amazed at but considering I am using a oxygen and acetylene with some nickel silver braze they came out pretty good. It's a lost art to stick weld these days and I actually enjoy it. Probably because I can't mig weld for ****. So after I got these repaired I reinstalled them only to find out that both motors are burnt out and the seats are stuck in a weird position. Well damn this sucks and after talking to a close Jeep buddy he told me to head to the junk yard and find some new motors or just convert to manuel seats. DUHHHH why didn't I think of that...
Got to the Junk Yard and they only wanted 12$ a seat mount ssaaaawweeet 24$ and some change for new mounts. Shibby

Love the bike, but it would look better naked :ylsmoke: , I would love to have a speed triple one day. Have you checked under the carpets yet?

I really wanted a speed triple because that was the first Triumph I rode but at the time I really wanted a full fairing bike. I still have mad love for the Speed and Street. The Street Triple R in my opinion is the best all around bike. The Daytona though is amazing I am about to hit 23,000 miles on her.

I haven't pulled up the carpet yet to see if there is any rust. I am going to redue the headliner and at that time I will probably pull carpet and all and check for rust and also do sound denting at the same time.
