Thoseare becoming very common in Canada but I don't think you can legally import them to the U.S. yet as the rules for Canada and the U.S. are different. Canada allows 15 year old trucks and the U.S. only allows 25 year old trucks.

They are nice though and are usually fully loaded with lockers and all other sorts of good stuff.

I was teeting on the brink of buying one of these for a while... My parents live in Canada so I could pull it off. They are great and that is a great price but I would personally need to inspect it. Another thing, for some reason a lot of these JDM land cruisers seem to smoke a lot. I'm not sure if its from being driven so seldom?

make sure you get the bottom end bearings in the motor redone as well. Most reputable importers will be doing them but alot are not. Major problem. I have seen two rigs with that motor where the bearings were near failure when changed.

I presume you are talking about black smoke and not white or blue smoke. Black smoke is almost always caused by worn injector tips and is fairly common in JDM diesels. Most of these vehicles are just under the usual 100,000 kms to rebuild the injectors and those that are just over usually have not been done either. White smoke points to a small air leak into the fuel system or (more likely) a faulty glow system (such as burnt out glow plugs). More of a concern is that most JDMs need the injector pump rubber seals replaced with viton type seals. Blue smoke can either be a fairly easy valve stem seal fix or worn oil rings on the pistons.

Yes I meant black smoke. I was in and behind one of these at Cruise Moab for quite a bit of time. Ony 60K miles, a BJ74 (which is an awesome vehicle). Smoking like crazy unfortunately. I figured altitude or injectors or both... Thanks! Andre
