Hi guys, I imported this South African V8 Hi-Line in original metallic green from SA back in October 2018 and have driven it quite a bit to suss out most issues and enjoy her for a few local camping trips with my kids. I am selling because I need to plow the funds back into my business.
I am the 3rd owner. Previous owner had her since 2002 and took good care of her. This is a Johannesburg car so saw little humidity.
1991 V8 142k mi w/AC (blowing, but not cold)
Asking $26,000

The great:
Galvanized chassis - no chassis rust!
Virtually no rust on the body. Two dime sized buttons of galvanic corrosion popping up under the paint in two spots, covered in photos)
Comes with new Melvill & Moon seat covers, front seat covers are the premium ones with leather piping, not cloth piping.) Front seat covers not yet installed so new owner knows they are indeed brand new. I have installed the middle and rear already about a month ago.
The good:
Front Runner roof rack and rear ladder
2 Eezi Awn tents, used. One is water-damaged on the wooden base due to a cover that failed, can be salvaged with some work, so I am leaving it on.
Rear tub protector (the big hard plastic one that covers the rear tub and goes up the sides)
A/C installed, but not blowing cold. I had it serviced and o-rings changed, vacuum pulled, regassed. It tested well and held for a week or so but lost charge, so there is a leak to be remedied.
Tow Bar installed, but wiring will need to be re-terminated for a US style trailer using a diode pack.
Winch-compatible bumper w/branch protection connections. Turnbuckles & wires installed
45l Aux fuel tank (Front Runner) in rear panel
Painted Steel wheels with 75% Cooper Discoverer S/T tires
Front brakes reconditioned, rear pinion seal replaced, engine and transmission mounts replaced, right exhaust manifold replaced, 6/18 (receipt in photos)
New fuel pump 7/19
Duel battery National Luna diode installed (comes with only one battery)
The bad:
AC leaking (mentioned above)
Gear shift boot is cracked
Suspension/drive train components has surface rust as shown in photos. No structural rust seen.
Dash has two aux holes in it, seen in photos. One is for a switch for the front spots (not connected) and one was for aftermarket immobilizer dongle, which has been removed (starter wiring returned to stock configuration by Royal Overland)
I noticed a warp in the SU carb cover this weekend. It is not leaking yet but it likely will soon. I will have to pull the carb and replace the cover plate (I have the SU rebuilt kit and a spare cover plate coincidentally - such is Defender ownership!!).
Exhaust has rust on it.
If I missed anything just ask, I am able to take more photos if there are specific things you want to see.
