I am located in Vancouver, B.C., Canada (30 minutes from the USA/Canada border, 2hrs from Seattle) and due to the 15 year rule, this vehicle is exportable to the USA. I would be happy to facilitate this should the buyer be interested.

Up for sale is my 1991 HDJ81 Land Cruiser VX Limited w/ working OEM triple lockers. I initially traded my 90 series Prado for this as I wanted to experience a full-sized overlanding rig and its far exceeded my expectations. A lot of the modifications were completed by the previous owners but I’ve done a lot of maintenance recently and added the new Dobinsons Flexi-coil 3.5’’ lift prior to my big road trip last month to Moab, UT. It was initially imported from Japan in 2009 via Outback Imports and a Norweigan ex-pat meticulously cared for the truck for many of its Canadian years. The truck’s overall condition is very good but does have a few scrapes and dents for its age. The undercarriage shows no rotting or troublesome areas. This vehicle is ready to explore and was given a clean bill of health from a local renown Land Cruiser specialist, John Voo (ex owner of ATEB).

I just finished an exhaustive 6000km shakedown headed to Moab UT, AZ, NV, CA and OR. The truck handled phenomenally the entire time and I had no issues. Photos listed in this ad were from said trip last month and the truck performed in tip top shape with cold A/C and the ability to not get stuck anywhere.

Below is an exhaustive list of the maintenance and modifications done to the vehicle with a rough timeline of installation and or completion dates.

Essentially original, currently no radio deck installed but has upgraded speakers and includes a subwoofer in trunk.
  • Custom rear bed shelf set up
  • Omori A-pillar gauge pod (Boost, EGT, Water Temp See below)
  • OEM sunroof that works great
  • OEM fridge works amazing after recharge and froze our drinks within an hour

  • Custom front tube bumper
  • Custom sliders
  • Warn Winch 12,000lb winch (Currently inoperable, see below)
  • Custom roof rack
  • Satoshi grill mod
  • Aftermarket snorkel included but not installed

Items to be aware of:

  • Warn Winch needs a rebuild, I attempted to bench test and it seems to be seized as it arcs the terminals in both forward and reverse. Most likely it is internally shorted (Warn still sells rebuild kits for these I believe)
  • Omori water temp gauge is disconnected and inoperable after new rad hose install
  • Windshield has a chip and crack along driver side lower right corner
  • Power steering reservoir leaky (Steam cleaned it and seems to be leaking from the crimping of the two part tank and or just the cap as it had a hardened and old gasket)
  • Missing some interior bits such as the rear door handle surround
  • SLIGHT rust bubbling on the passenger side door at the very bottom (common Land Cruiser spot)
