Hey y'all, I've been lurking here for a while. This is my first post, so bear with me.
FOR SALE: 1992 Ford E-350 Econoline 1 ton Van, the shorter of the two bodies, 291k miles
Location: Chicago, IL
Description: My no-frills stealth camper. I bought it in January while in southern VA as an upgrade from the Subaru I was dirtbaggin in. I lined the rear floor with reflectix, then put new rubber matting down. In the cab, the floor got cheap dynamat knockoff, then closed cell foam matting underneath the original rubber floor. Same treatment for the dog house to lower the diesel noise (it worked!) I put the dynamat stuff in all six doors to get rid of the old truck slamming sound. I built a lil bed platform and drawers in the back, drove around the south for three months with my dog to hike and climb and swim, then drove it to Chicago in April for a job and went back to living indoors. I drive it every few weeks to keep things moving and smooth. It has the pop-out windows on the side/rear doors, and in the drivers side middle window. It has a block heater plugin up front, a 2” hitch in the back, and the trailer electrical hookup.
The 7.3 IDI engine is known for lasting a million miles, and I planned to get another 700k out of this van and paid for repairs accordingly. I’m selling it for the cost of getting the transmission rebuilt. Repairs since January are below.
Price: $3800
Repairs/maintenance since January:
-Transmission rebuild by AAMCO, with diesel upgrades including a billet torque converter, with 30k nationwide warranty
-New batteries (diesels use two batteries), new solenoid, new starter
-New injector lines, new fuel solenoid, new Wix fuel filter
-New radiator, water pump, fan clutch, and belt
-New u-joints
-Wheels balanced
-New windshield wipers this week ;-)
-Oil changed in August
Known Problems:
-AC doesn’t work
-Dime-sized chip on the windshield
-Inside handle on rear door broken. It opens from inside. Door locks and unlocks, but does not open from the outside.
-Not a problem, but the previous owner put taller tires on the back? 235/85/16 rear, 245/75/16 front
I didn’t see anything in the rules about linking to craigslist, but here’s the Chicago ad for the van: https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/d/92-ford-350-diesel-73-idi/6406081407.html
