1994 International 4700 Ambulance Conversion

This is a road-ready, fully functional vehicle with off-grid capabilities, rigorously tested and proven to perform reliably. The truck is exceptionally robust and straightforward, lacking computer controls, which means the engine runs as long as there's a 12v power supply and fuel, and there's no need for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). Low mileage, only 42,000 miles, and 2,500 hours of engine runtime.

The interior of the living space has been thoughtfully designed, offering the same durability as the ambulance body it's based on. You won't find any fragile or finicky components, ensuring a worry-free living experience. I am 5'7" and can stand and move around comfortably.

I've been living in this rig full-time for a year and have decided to settle down in one place for a while. I have more detailed pictures from the entire build process, so if you have questions or want to see how something was done, feel free to ask.

Thanks to its off-grid capabilities, operating costs have been exceptionally low. It's titled, clear, and insured as a commercial vehicle. You can see some life on the road on Instagram @ambicondo, where I've been documenting this adventure for family and friends.

I've placed an immense amount of trust in this truck, relying on it for my life, career, and sustenance throughout the past year. I'm confident it's capable of taking you wherever you need to go.

Quick little video a friend made.

The price, including delivery, $70,000.

Truck details:

1994 International 4700
Incredibly easy to drive
40,000 miles on truck and chassis
3,000 hours on engine (Drive and Idle time)
DT360 International engine.
Alison 545 automatic transmission
Rear wheel drive (not 4X4) Always had the intension of building or moving to a 4WD chassis but in all reality, it’s just not needed for the traveling I’ve been doing. But boy would it be cool!
8-10 mpg
50-gallon fuel tank
22.5 tires and new wheels
Rust free
Air ride rear suspension
4-wheel hydraulic disc brakes (air parking brake)
On board air (York compressor)
4:44 gears
9’5” overall height
Military steel front bumper
Full passthrough to rear with door.
Air ride seats
Back up camera
Power windows
Heated mirrors
Additional auxiliary transmission cooler
Fore and aft LED light bars
Receiver hitch front and rear.
Custom motorcycle rack on rear. Have been hauling around an old Harley so I would put just about anything back there without worry.

Box/interior details:

Interior is finished out in teak and other high end marine grade wood and materials.
TV, and XM radio
WiFi internet. You will have to get your own, but I work remote and have been using Nomad Internet with ZERO issues all over the east coast. From FL to NY, the Mississippi to the Atlantic. I would recommend this to whomever will be setting off. I’ll be switching to Starlink if I head west.
The space is super usable for work, entertaining, cooking, and there is a workbench for activities.
Insulated with wool (Havelock Wool)
Table and nightstand are teak and zebrawood veneer. Table easily seats 4. Converts to bed for 2.
Butcherblock countertops
AC unit, 1370 watt (RecPro RV)
Reversable vent (Max Air)
All doors lockable with key and locks inside
Tons of standard ambulance lockable storage
270 awning (Overland Vehicle Systems)
Custom aluminum roof rack to protect and hide solar panels, AC, Max Air, and mount 270 awning.
Additional smaller awning (ARB)
Propane tank mounted behind rear axle (currently not hooked up to anything but could be used for heat?)

Electrical system details:

Electrical system is all built with easily replicable high end off the shelf components. No custom wizardry or complex one-offs. I built everything with service in mind.
1110 watts of solar, 3x370 w panels (Seraphim)
400-amp of 12v hours of lithium batteries. Four now but there is room for two more for a total of 600-amp hours (Battle Born)
Digital battery and data display (Victron)
12, 24, and 110 power
12V AC unit
12V induction cooktop
12V hot water heater (Expedition Upfitter)
12V fridge (IceCo)
3000-watt inverter (Victron)
150/85 Solar controller (Victron)
Alternator charge controller (Sterling)
Everything is fused and on a breaker with master switches.
House batteries charge 3 ways: Solar, shore power, and truck alternator. I have been living in the truck full time for 1 year and have never needed shore power.
Truck batteries are separated from the house and will not drain if something goes south.

Water system details:

65 gallons total on board
25 gallons on in Scepter cans. These are in the driver side compartment. Use these for sink and cooking. Easy to throw in a shopping cart and fill in water stations.
40 gallons in custom built tank under the bench seat. Has a hose fill on passenger side. This runs through a 3-gallon 12V hot water heater for the shower and an outside hose.
2 RV style pumps with one as a spare. All wired and fused separately on switches.
