merry christmas to you. being a 94, make sure its a true SR. rear locker switch is next to cig outlet near x-case shifter. will also have a sunroof and leather. i say this because i have owned 2 94 SR's that only had the flares and larger v6, but were LS trimmed with no locker. i purchased mine at 198,xxx and have had no issues. but it was well cared for. i paid way to much for it too!
if well maintained its worth $2k. but starting with 1000 is a game plan. put up some pics after you drive it.
while test driving, engage the t-case. the front wheels will be blinking on the dash until the actuator actuates the front diff. if it doesnt actuate, its not a huge issue, as most people never engage them. but it could be an issue. either way, its a pricing item. the side view mirrors are likely flapping while driving. tighten a screw and there usually better. its worth it to have a shop lift it up for you. inspected all the front coolers and there associated rubber lines. all of mine are starting to leak. the power steering pump to pressure line is a common leak. ;ook for oil on the top of the alternator, will tell you if the steering and/or cam seals are leaking.
during the drive, use the trans switch on the center console, rearward of the shifter. front position is POWER. this will cause the trans shift points to be higher for towing and steep grades. you will absolutely notice a difference. if not, an issue is possible. the rear position id HOLD. this locks the trans in 2nd gear for icy take off situations. you will notice a sluggish start from a stop sign, if not, an issue exists.
good luck and happy new year!
