1995 RRC new front driveshaft, report and questions

Today I installed a new Great Basin Rovers double cardon front driveshaft. Let me say it was a bear to install because of clearance and stripped nuts. Also, another lesson learned was that the front sway bar needs to come off for clearance. So, I got it done and while checking stuff out I noticed that the trans cross member now only clears the driveshaft by about half an inch. I flexed it out on some ramps and it doesnt rub. Has anyone else noticed this with a new front driveshaft? ANy problems with rubbing at full flex? Thanks in advance for input. Cheers, Fernando

I wouldn't be too worried if it clears under flexing - you might want to put the truck on a two post lift to see if it contacts when the front axle is fully drooped

Mine did too..I cut the x-member out - last thing you want to do at full flex with your wheels spinning is have the driveshaft whack the x-member. I am fabbing another one up to maintain frame rigidity with enough clearance.

That X member should find its way to the recycle bin. When off road it can become a rock / or stump catcher.

Silly question, but im going to ask anyway. Is it necessary to replace the x member if you remove the stock one. I had planned to remove it and build a new one but if it is ok without it, maybe not. Any thoughts
