Hey all,

So due to some unfortunate circumstances I am selling my 1996 Land Rover Discovery. After purchasing this rig in October 2017 and driving it from Georgia to S. California, I planned on dumping money in to it and getting it to exactly where I wanted it for an adventure / overland setup. The previous owner did all the work and rebuilt it from the ground up. He installed a 1983 Mercedes Diesel OM617.952 engine in it and has done a lot of other work. (I am attaching the original build log he gave me.)I figured the hard part was done with the diesel swap and other work the original owner put in to it and that I could have it completely decked out in no time. Well life threw me a curveball and I found out that I will be deploying at the end of March and all my plans surrounding the Discovery soon started falling apart. I have had zero time to continue this build and I had to relocate to a place where I don't have access to the proper tools or equipment , and my free time went to zero because of work.

About a month ago, the thing started smoking heavily and I tried some basic remedies to try and figure out what was causing it to smoke before bringing it in to the mechanic. It was a feat in itself finding someone who was willing to look at it because of the diesel swap and the place I have it at right now is bringing a specialist in to look at it next Wednesday February 7th. The initial diagnosis doesn't look good, and what the guy told me is its possibly an internal fuel problem , but didnt want to go in to more detail than that until the specialist can take a look at it on Wednesday. At this point I am hoping that I can find someone who is willing and able to give this beast the TLC it needs to run at peak performance and wants to finish the build and make it their own.

I should have more information by Wednesday on the diagnosis the mechanic gives me, and I will upload pictures as soon as I can get the vehicle back. My gut is telling me that its a minor issue that can be fixed relatively easily by someone who knows what they are doing, and that the reason the mechanic is saying other wise is because of inexperience with diesel conversions. I originally purchased the vehicle for $10K. please message me to discuss sale price. If anyone is interested you can contact me text or call at (425) 327-5382. Please leave a message as I screen my calls. I am located in Oceanside CA however the vehicle is registered in Washington State. If interested in the rig I could possibly meet anywhere between Southern California and the Seattle area as I will be driving home in March for a week.

Thanks all,

Paul
