1999 Montero Alarm Problems

I believe the Montero is a victim of both alarm malfunction and sticky horn syndrome. Something is still making noise occasionally at start up with the alarm removed. I'll dive into this upon my return from abroad. Anyone else here try the repair method highlighted below? I'm skeptical of the electrical tape turning slimy in summer conditions, maybe reattach with super glue?
