so I can cross the ad, "while driving vehicle developed a rough idle which has been diagnosed as problem with the crank pulley" . how bad this could be? could be engine being damaged as well? does it worth buying and fixing it at shop and what would be the cost?

Thank you

I read the same craigslist posting and researched a bit. Theres an good write up on expo describing the repair I found on Google. My general understanding is removal of accessory drive and timing belt to access and replace the bolt. Then you go back with new parts.. Looking at +/- $1500 at a shop.

I replaced the crank bolt on my '99 by removing the fan, and the pulley belts. This gives you access to everything you need (albeit in a tight space).

Also helpful to pull the skid plates so you can access things from underneath.

now, if the crank bolt broke... it's REALLY difficult to get it out... you're trying to remove a bolt, cranked to 125 ft lbs without anything to grab onto with a wrench.
