1st gen 89 4runner interiors interchangable with 2nd gen 90 4runners?

I have seen people swap the rear seats from a 2nd gens to 1st gens with minimal modifications.
Yotatech is a great place to search. Some have swaped 2nd and 3rd gen dashes into a 1st gen but thats more customization, and also goes along with engine swaps in the case of the 3rd gen interior. Good luck.

PM CA18_Sean. He has both a 1st and 2nd Gen. He's over in Tampa, maybe he could shed some light. I grew up in Clearwater, Morningside/Meadows.

Short answer.... No
Long answer... Maybe, with work.

I agree, I had a 95, and swapped a 93 body only and put the 95 interior inside that is totally possible albeit a horrible job. There are several differences in the 1st gen and 2nd gen as far as the interior is concerned, door shape, dashboard, holes in the carpet etc... Your best bet would be to order some carpet or rubber mat off of ebay, or maybe find pre cut carpet.

Which parts are you looking for? I think Coverlay used to make some products for that gen but I can't find matches on their website now, only the next gen up.

Whoa...Performance Products dropped their Toyota line?

JCWhitney...no....

I'm coming up empty.

I really don't think the next gen parts like dashes would be an easy swap into a 1st gen. I would keep scouring salvage yards.

I don't think it would be too difficult to do between 1st and 2nd gen 4runners. I had a 2nd gen 4runner for parts and everything was pretty similar. I would think you would just need to swap over the dash bar and start bolting everything back up. Might have to trim the dash at certain parts. Door panels are even pretty similar. I want to do a 3rd gen dash like this

So far I'm needing carpet, a console , dash/cap/carpet and a new top. both window l bracket and frames are rotted out. Not to mention the sun really beat the heck out of the fiberglass...

I have an 87 4runner sitting next to the garage that is demanding a build thread on this pic!

I have a write up that has been reposted on several forums for swapping the rear seats from a second gen to a first gen. I also swapped in the front seats, so yes, some parts do work without much fabrication. For the rears, I just put the second gen cushions on the first gen frames. Google "austintaco seat swap" and it will come up. Good luck
