There is a recall out on 1st Gen's, Toyota will be buy it back for 1.5x the blue book. Take it to a toyota dealer, they'll inspect it and cut you a deal. Good luck

EDIT: it is possible that they would put a new frame under it instead of the buyback option. They will look at the year and mileage before making a decision. It costs them $10-15k to replace the frame when you figure man hours, and misc items that they will replace in the process (i.e. nuts, bolts, suspension, etc. )

Did Toyota do a recall on them like they did the Tundra?

If it was me, I would clean it up and trade it in. Take it to a dealership down south where they don't look for rust.

A few years ago I had a frame inspection done on my 03 Tacoma. They found a hole larger than 10mm and because it was a 03 they replaced the frame instead of buying it back. At the time I was told that they were replacing the frames on 03 and 04 models and earlier models were getting buy backs. The dealership was awesome to deal with and set me up with a loaner Tacoma while they did the work. I just traded that truck this summer because the rear diff rusted out and was leaking fluid... plus I needed more room for baby seats. At the time I was pumped they replaced the frame because I loved that truck.

I don't believe I am able to take advantage of the recall as I am not the original owner and it is pass the 15 years. but I going to take into Toyota to see what that say. most likely end up cleaning it up and trading it in. rebuilding is just out of the question with the cost of that. its a shame been a good truck to me.

You're not required to be the original owner. As to the 15 years, it's still worth it to take it in and see what they may (or may not) do. Good luck!
