1st Gen Sequoia Transmission Drain Plug Temperature Sender

Has anyone replaced the drain plug with a temp sensor? I have determined the thread is a M10 x 1.5 and VDO makes a temp sender with that thread. Before I pull the drain plug with associated oil drain, has anyone stuck something in the hole and determined the depth? There is a good write up on Tundra Solutions with pictures, but, it is hard to tell the clearance.

I may just add an in-line pipe tee with a sender screwed in there. My goal is to not pull the pan. I have done that with other vehicles and added a bung. I’m getting old and want what seems to be the easy button.
Thanks

Re-redoing things the third time
I don't remember which side is the "Hot" side of the cooler lines but I would run a tee there rather than have anything hang down from the pan. I found some fittings that adapt the stock cooler line with the flare to a -6an line.
