So after putting in the new sounds system, the Monty has powered down. I was driving down the highway and came to a stop. The engine began to idle roughly and as I continues to the destination I could tell the power was surging as the lights got dim. I came to a stop and the idle continues to get worse. Turned in off and back on to start and it's was still rough with the check engine on. Brought it back home and the engine began to idle even worse as I approached 35-45 mph. Then would even out but it had significant power loss. Ran code and have me p0300. Multiple misfire. Replaced plugs and wires as well as plenum gasket. Still doing the same thing. Complete loss if power. In park idles at 200 rpm roughly when it's suppose to be up in the 800's

I'm at a loss please help.

Check the crank bolt/harmonic balancer ASAP. Sounds like this could be your issue, I say this because of you comments on the lights. It seems your alternator is affected AND you are getting mis-fires. If you catch it early you can minimize potential issues.

Also, could just be alternator/battery/voltage related and the misfires are the result.

You followed me, so now we're both lost
I would also double check all wiring for a bad ground/connection if it is not the bolt/balancer.

I found out that the battery has a dead cell as well. I will replace this and see if the voltage problem clears. Mechanic cleaned the idle control sensor. Ran great for an hour on the way home. Now it's back to the same issues and the cel is back on....

So, if the battery had a "dead cell" but that wasn't the issue...I'm left wondering who is doing the diagnosis. A dead cell would definitely cause some problems, did they get that wrong? Did a bad alternator kill a cell? Just a couple thoughts.

Had two battery tests done one says dead cell one said it passed with flying colors. Good volts with and without loads.

Update.... Was the coil packs 1&3 including the transistor that he comp talks too to send appropriate signal to said coil packs. The bad resistor shorted out the packs and cause it to run on 4 cylinders.... 500$ later....! Runs like a top now. Go figure

Souper, that was my initial reaction when I read your post. I called it ignition packs. I'm glad you got this fixed.
