2 Door Expedition Wranglers?

It would seem that the vast majority of Wrangler Expedition vehicles I see are of the 4dr variety, anyone else seeing the world in a 2dr?

I drove Alaska->Argentina in my TJ and it was fantastic.
In the future, I'd like to be able to sleep inside my vehicle, and maybe hide from bugs/weather in there on occasion, so I will be moving to a 4-door for that reason.

Tom Shepard has selected a 2-door JK as his next expedition vehicle.

I understand about the wanting to sleep inside the vehicle, my 2002 Dodge Diesel was good for that while it had a topper. I do understand why the 4dr are much more popular in this realm, I just really prefer the classic look of my 2dr, my Dodge makes much more sense as an expedition vehicle, but the Jeep is more fun to drive, and it goes places the truck never would be able to.

I have a 2DR built for "expedition" :) I too love the classic look of the 2dr , but at times I question if I should of purchased a 4dr. But, I have so much money invested in the 2 DR and its paid for , I just can't start over again.

I love my 2 door. though most of the time it's just my son and me or I'm solo, so the back seat is removed for maximum storage.

I have even thrown a love-sac in the back and slept in it on a short winter trek. I was comfy and warm.

LJ Wranglers were the best of both worlds, but until Jeep steps up and creates a JKL, which will never happen, you're stuck between 2 and 4 doors.

I wish they had continued the LJ and made an LK, my children are grown, hardly ever use the back seat, the extra room without the doors would have been welcomed. I am happy to see that there are others out there doing the 2dr expedition thing, I am slowly getting there.

I often dream of Jeep making a 4 door diesel wrangler, but since they haven't I purchased a gently used LJR. Sleeping in the vehicle would be nice on longer expeditions, but I could pull a small offroad tear drop or low profile cargo trailer to meet that demand.
I really like the J30 by ursa minor, but then again whats a jeep and if you don't take its top off?

There are ways to make the 2 door work. If I'm by myself I'll remove the backseat & front passenger seat and fabricate a level sleeping platform in the footwell. I'm six foot and fit quite well in this space, it will do for 2-3 days camping. Otherwise I'll pack my tent and use that as my primary. I have to agree with the other posters that the shape of the 2 door is a thing of beauty, and that I too wish they would have made something akin to the LJ for the JK.

Building a 2dr JK Unlimited wouldnt be hard. All you would need is to buy the side panels from thee J8 conversion and then modify the hardtop. Would be very easy and youd be able to recoup some money towards the project by selling the 2 rear doors.

I'll be getting a roof rack and roof top tent at some point, not planning on sleeping inside the vehicle at all myself and I pulled the rear seat out the day after I bought it and have no intention of ever putting it back in. I also have a 2011 black 2 door JK.

I definitely like the idea of being able to retreat inside the Jeep in the event the weather takes a really bad turn. The roof tent would certainly work here in the Desert Southwest, sleeping up off of the hot ground has a certain appeal.
