2000 4Runner rear axle

My wife's 4runner had the rear axle rust out and the locker fail all within a couple of months. I was installing her winter tires last fall when I noticed that the passenger side upper control arm was hanging in the breeze! After disassembling the axle, I found that the e-locker actuator had a nice big hole in it as well! I managed to procure a good used axle housing and after some sandblasting and some paint, it looks pretty good, but the actuator was a little more difficult. We were going back and forth between the manual cable locker and a big bill from Toyota for a new actuator, when a friend of my dad's told us he could build us a new base plate for the actuator. This is what he created.

If anyone is interested in getting a new base plate, he can build more. He used 6061 aluminum and had it anodized for corrosion resistance. I installed it today and it fit great. Tomorrow is rear bumper building day.

Being that this is not the first actuator I have seen destroyed from corrosion, i think you might have something going here.

Any idea on cost?
