This Montero has been a great vehicle My wife and bought it just after we were married, it was our first vehicle. We have used camping and even on a trail when the cj5 was out of order, mostly used as grocery getter and scout hauler.
Goods: part time 4x4, good Michelin tires, regularly serviced, never been wrecked, I performed a 1.5 torsion lift up front which greatly improved handling and ride on street and off-road.
Problems: oil leak from back of passenger side valve cover, ABS and 4x4 light come on intermittently which I guess is a common problem according to forums on subject with this model but does not affect handling or drivability. (we bought it with both problems 3 years ago but did not receive any warning about them)
Reason for sale: We now have two little girls and as soon as we have another this vehicle will be too crowed. Can't fit 3 car seats in back seat.
