2000 Toyota Tundra Access Cab 4wd & 2017 Hawk Shell Four Wheel Camper FWC

This truck and camper combo has served my family quite well. We’ve camped and surfed at remote beaches in Baja. We’ve taken it to California and Nevada hot springs and ski resort parking lots all over the west.

We added a refrigerator to the camper and made a very simple kitchen with water storage-held in place with a strap. We also insulated the camper for winter camping.

Unfortunately, the truck will not pass California Smog restrictions due to some of the modifications listed below.

Tundra:

4.7 liter V8
331,719 miles
Professionally re-geared 4.56 (Yukon Ring and Pinion) with a Detroit Locker in the rear.
General Grabber MTR’s 60% Tread 285/75/R16 (33”)
F5 Stealth Custom Series 16” Wheels
Unichip piggyback ECU with custom tune
Dirty Deeds (BAM) Long tube headers, Dirty Deeds (BAM) racing exhaust (side exit) and high flow cats
Dirty Deeds 12 hole injectors

Suspension:
King Coilover set for 2” of lift in the front
Camburg Uni-ball Upper control arms
Add a Leaf and Firestone airbags in the rear

Other mods:
Braided brake lines
2004 Brake caliper swap
Skid Row Off Road front skid plate
T-100 Brake booster swap
Front Runner Outfitters Flat Upright 10 Gallon Water Tank with hose kit

Recent maintenance:
Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, idler pulleys, all replaced at 290,000
New power steering rack and power steering lines earlier this year

Spare parts:
Brand new spare front cv axel assembly
Assorted hoses and belts
Extra Firestone airline
Stock mud flaps

Truck Issues:
Parking brake cables need to be replaced – parking brake does not work
Deer dent in the front bumper, deer impact moved the quarter panels a little
Check engine lite (O2 sensors from headers & cats) comes on sometimes
Will not pass CA smog - long tube headers high flow cats and side exhaust
Steering wheel not straight
No back seat – removed years ago to make more room for dogs and gear
Some rust – this was an east coast truck for most of its life. The frame has some rust, but nothing terminal. The bed has some rust and two small holes.

2017 Hawk Shell Four Wheel Camper FWC Roll Over Couch

Bought brand new off the floor at FWC’s Woodland Headquarters. This was a showroom model.
Installed at FWC Woodland.
Mechanical Camper jacks
Yakima roof tracks feet and round bars
Extra roof vent
Power roof vent (Fan-Tastic Vent Fan)
Forced Air Furnace with Thermostat
Comes with 2 extra 40lb gas struts – very helpful if the rack is on.
Thermal pack
Currently insulated for winter camping
Engel fridge mounted to the floor
2nd Deep Cycle Battery
100 watt Renogy hard panel (never used – will need charge controller)
Queen sizes slide-out bed
Screen door – added cross mount handle
2 burner propane stove with cover
LED interior lights
LED outside porch light (currently broken)
Fire extinguisher

Camper Issues:

I missed a latch once while raising the roof – causing a small bend in the roof. See pic. Talked with FWC about it, very common, no leaks.

Backed into a tree branch in Santa Cruz that broke out the outside light (see pic).
