Got this thing for a few hundred bucks. Guy installed gears wrong and I took it off his hands for 200 bucks. (He set price)

Vehicle is a 2000 Yukon Xl 4wd 1500 with a 9 inch lift and 20x12 wheels and 35s. I'm dropping it down to 6 inches and leaving it alone.

Well I got it all fixed and working ok. I'm going to turn it into my mobile hunting/fishing camp. Due to the bear population here getting a little more known about. I have decided to sleep in the Yukon. Dont laugh at me lol. I can handle gators and snakes, but I cross the line at bears.

I'm looking into platform setups, shelf setups, also how to hang my fishing poles and other gear on the ceiling with a net.

Mostly will be me unless my wife wants to go then its us and our 2 year old.

Things I know for sure that are going to happen.

Arb awning/room combo
Winch
Roof rack
Maybe smaller wheel and tire combo

My platform / drawer setup is about 10" tall, still leaves 25" at the overhead center of the liftgate coaming, plus the ceiling in the cargo area is a few inches higher than that. IT's enough to sleep in. Can't really sit up properly though. Good news with the Sub / XL is that it's 97"+ from the back of the front seats to the liftgate, so your platform doesn't need to go all the way to the front seats, leaving enough room to get out of the 2nd row doors well enough.

There's no factory way to release Liftgate hatch or glass from inside, you can rig a switch to unlock, but it doesn't pop open. @Burb One managed to put some cords to the latches and I expanded on his idea with some clothes hangar wire pull rings, but my latches occasionally bind with them in. I still haven't got around to refining the idea. But when it works it works real nice.

You pull the top ring up and the glass pops open, pull the lower ring to the right / driver side and the Liftgate unlatches. I've been considering finding some sort of 'found part' inset door latch handle that I can rig for the lower. Or reverting to BurbOne's cord idea. Problem with mine is how I bent and crimped the coathanger wire around the latches where the factory cables attach. Attaching a steel cable onto the factory cables with a heavy metal crimp would probably work. Then work the far end into a ring and Plastidip it or something. It the pic above I just bent the coathanger wire into a ring and wrapped with with electrical tape.
