2001 Disco Transfer Case question

Hello All.

My 2001 is stuck in 4WD High. There is zero movement in the shifter. After reading through previous posts, I removed the shifter solenoid but there is still no movement. I am the second owner of this truck. I doubt the previous owner put in into Low very often, if at all.

Could this be a seized cable? Something inside the transfer case? Just keep lubricating and manually working it?

Your shift solenoid has taken a crap. Take it out, throw it away, and shift whenever you want. Not when the computer tells you, you can.

getlost4x4 - That was the first thing I did... the solenoid is out. Im going to soak all the cable connections overnight with PB Blaster.

NE truck? I'm guessing that the linkage is rusted.

Once you get it broken loose, cycle it from HI to LO and back at least once a week to keep the linkage nice and smooth.

Yes, NE truck. I went back to the truck this morning after just soaking the cable and pins in PB Blaster overnight. With a good bit of force, I was able to break it free, in N, then into L. The more I keep doing it, the easier it is getting. So, between the solenoid and soaking the shifter pins/cables I was able to resolve the issue.
