2001 Montero Sport underbody skid plate... wear to source?

The uphill battle begins
BTW-if you find OEM skids you can always re-enforce them with angle iron. One of my local friends w/ a Gen 2, was looking at the transfer case skid that "KIRK" built and copied the idea for re-enforcing the front two skids. Have them installed but haven't tested them yet.

A little tough to see now that they are painted, but re-enforced sections run from front to back.

OK so I have sourced a full set of stock ones. I will be getting them soon...

So for now I will go with reinforcing the stock ones with the angle iron until I get more serious with going off road... Just in the learning stages.

Any one have a good thread to point me to guide me in exactly where to reinforce? I will follow the pic above, but wish I had a better shot that was a bit clearer to make out size and where to weld. If I'm deciphering this pic correctly... It looks like the angle iron was installed, so the piece forms a triangle? with the angle irons spine (bend) being the top. The base (legs) down are both welded to the plate on the side that will face upward toward the vehicle when installed? Is this the correct assessment? Hope my explanation makes sense... LOL! I'm not that articulate at explaining what I SEE in my minds eye...

NOw what is the best way to strengthen/reinforce the body where the plate mounts?

Yes, the angle was welded with the "spine" up. But don't overthink this...it's just what one guy did with a seat of the pants approach.

The OEM mounting tabs on the crossmember are ready to go. Being a seat of the pants builder myself, I did fab up some additional tabs that were of heavier gauge material. No idea whether or not they were necessary, but it gave me some additional welding practice.
