This breaks my heart, but I'm selling my beloved 2001 Tacoma turned Adventuremobile. I'm the second owner - I bought her in 2005 with only 15,000 miles on the odometer. This truck was amazing for me and my two dogs, but now that I have a partner with three kids we've had to upgrade to an E350 adventure van. The custom wood and aluminum camper was done by Bell-Air Shells in 2018 and I had a custom carpeted sleeping platform with storage installed at the same time. In 2020 I installed two 180 watt solar panels on the roof of the camper that power a 2400wH Bluetti power station, built a custom truck bed slide, added a ski rack and shoe racks inside the camper as well as heavy duty hooks for a hanging hammock chair. She has just over 177k on the odometer, most of which have been non-city, cross country trips. The truck is located in Irvine, California and I'm asking $20,000 OBO for the entire package. She's been all over the country in every kind of weather condition, and even with the camper she offroads like a champ. I spent a long time modifying the camping set-up, and I hate to sell her but I'm hoping she can go to a new owner who will use her and appreciate her the way she deserves, rather than sitting in my driveway while we take the van out adventuring!
Truck Specs
Truck Specs
- 2001 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab SR5
- TRD Offroad package
- Towing package
- 4WD
- V6
- 5 Speed Manual Transmission
- 177,269 miles
- 2nd Owner (still have the original sales sticker)
- New power steering pump and hoses (2023)
- New Muffler (2022)
- AT Mud and Snow Tires
- All regular maintenance performed on schedule
- Fully detailed May 29, 2023
- Custom wood and aluminum overcab camper shell built and installed in 2018 (this is not a slide in camper. It can be removed, but it is not meant to be removed and put back on)
- Built in overhead lights connected to the main truck battery; battery powered twinkle lights and side lights installed inside the truck
- There is a rear door that has a deadbolt, and it the entire back also flips up to allow for better access and doubles as an awning.
- Screened in roof vent and sliding screened in windows on the sides and rear door of camper
- Custom carpet kit sleeping platform with built in storage. The sleeping platform has two removable sections in the middle. When removed it can be used as a couch/seating area, and I also mounted a tabletop on the underside of the long removable piece and have included a folding let setup that can turn it into a table that can be used either inside or outside of the camper, so you never have to bring an extra table!
- Custom (DIY) built truck slide for gear which doubles as a table/cooking station
- 2 x 180 watt roof mounted solar panels
- 2400wH Bluetti Power station (I use it to power a portable fridge and a 250watt space heater which keeps the interior of the cab nice and toasty in the winter - I've done tons of winter camping below freezing in the camper)
- Ironman 4x4 privacy tent mounted on the passenger side of camper (can include portable toilet)
- Overhead storage
- internal ski rack and shoe racks
- Hanging hammock chair mounts (hammock chair can be included)
- I have a full size memory foam mattress with a tuft and needle topper that I cut in half so that it can be used as a bed and a couch (or if you are by yourself you can leave half at home) that can be included with custom sheets. The sleeping platform is padded so you can use it without the mattress, but I liked the extra comfort.
- I also have custom made blackout curtains that attach via magnets to a metal strip I installed over the windows.
- The truck has been well maintained and well loved, but she is a 2001 so she has some wear and tear. There are some minor dings and scrapes on the outside and on the interior dash, as well as inside the camper.
- The table top and the truck bed slide that have been used as a table could use a refinish but they are fully functional.
- I built the truck bed slide myself and it works just fine, but the stops have gotten a bit janky and could use to be replaced.
- Last year I got a hole in my muffler on a cross country trip and didn't realized until I got home that the hole was allowing hot exhaust to blow under the truck bed in front of the rear passenger wheel well. The muffler was replaced and there is no damage to the truck itself, but there is a custom spray-in liner in the truck bed and where it got really hot a bit of it melted/flaked off. It is covered by the sleeping platform and storage so you only see it when you go into the back storage bin, but I wanted to disclose it so there are no surprises.
- I just had the power steering pump and hoses replaced and she is running and driving great, but I have been told that a) the steering rack may eventually need some work and b) there is a very small oil leak that every mechanic I've spoken with in the last few years says is not worth fixing because it is so minor. I just check the oil levels regularly and occasionally have to add a just a little bit.
- There is a crack in the windshield. I'm planning to get the windshield replaced in the next couple weeks but if someone wants to buy it before that is completed I'd be happy to take the price of a new windshield off.
