2001 WJ Grand Cherokee 60th Anni.; does not run

2001 WJ Grand Cherokee 60th Anniversary with a dead 4.7 V8: does not run, but in otherwise very good mechanical condition. I'm the second owner, purchased it in 2007 and knew the service history of first owner (friends). Always maintained on schedule and most standard issues with these vehicles addressed by previous owner. Dry, straight, never-hit, rust free original California vehicle.

New-in-2008 installed:

Includes KOR rock sliders (finished with POR-15)
ProComp MX-6 shocks
new UpCountry springs (which equals roughly 1" lift)
new, heavy duty rear sway bar
JKS front disconnects
new OME Steering stabilizer
new bushings throughout suspension
new Bridgestone Dueler Revos (including spare)

As it's a 60th anni, it has most of the additional trim features of an Overland, including dual front tow hooks, skids, full leather interior, mirror heaters, seat heaters, and all the rest of the usual luxury appointments.

The Jeep was set up as a mildly prepped overland vehicle, capable of hauling the family in comfort. It saw active use in Ca's deserts and mountains, and makes quite a nice overland platform. Of course you could develop it more if you want to, as some have.

Three of the four plastic bumper corners are a little crunched (ex-wife parking mode), but I was unconcerned as I was going to install a steel front bumper and rear bumper/tire/aux fuel can carrier anyway. There is one dent on the right side rear passenger door. There is some pinstriping on both sides (desert non-brushless car wash mode). The thing was used for what it was built for.

There will be no stereo installed, but I can provide the factory components (of which one dash speaker is blown).

Driver side rocker cladding missing; it was stolen by a couple of jerks in a van who followed us home one night.

If it had a manual transmission, I'd pay to put a new motor in it. The auto was a concession to my ex. If you've got a motor already, and were thinking about developing a WJ for more extreme off road use, this is your chassis. If you really want one of these and are willing to pay for a motor and installation, you're looking at very roughly $4k, plus/minus a whole lot depending on your hook-ups, deals, etc. KBB value for this is roughly $6,500 without upgrades. I'm asking $1,495 to start, which would put you at $5,500 spent on a good vehicle with a new, warrantied motor (if you go the crate route); less if you've got stuff lying around.

Also bear in mind that the sliders, suspension and tires alone are in outstanding, near-new condition, and would cost well north of $2,000 by themselves.

But, I'll accept any reasonable offer; I need it gone.

You must be able to arrange towing and/or pick up. The vehicle is in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Sorry for the lack of good pics; I never really photographed it, and it's not at my house now.

Questions happily answered.

No compression at all. Most likely thermostat failed, thus engine overheated (which it did), heads/rings warped or broken...at least that was the diagnosis of two people who know more than I about those motors.

Would be a great diesel conversion if you could get you hands on a Mercedes Diesel...
