Completely OT... Love the XJ, but whenever I see a pic that was obviously taken on a "driveby", I picture someone selling their neighbor's car without their knowledge or some similarly shady story :ylsmoke:

The wood screw to hold the trim on is scary enough. That alone is enough for me to walk away. It raises the question - who would do such a thing? ...and what other unseen horrors might there be?

Nah, I'll echo everyone else's advice. Run. You'll find better. :)

my 1988 from New England has less rust on the body. The undercarriage does look like someone got in an accident and swapped in new parts.

Get away from it.

Why you sticking to dealers? Private party is enough savings that you could easily afford the cost of a pre-purchase inspection...

because i probably cant get a loan from a bank because last year when I lost my job and couldnt find decent work for a good part of the year I went default on school loans. we figured it was more important to make sure we could make our house payment than my school loans.

I wish i could find something like that at a dealer.

This was a private dealer, but you should look into private sellers because dealers are not always that great, and not to mention overpriced most of the time.

I would take Frank's offer. His XJ is my XJ's inspiration. Even bought the same front bumper. :D
