Hi all,
I've been coming to this forum for years now, drooling over and dreaming about some of the vehicles here. Finally I found a vehicle I hope to have through many adventures.
This is my first time building up a vehicle in any way other than basic maintenance so it will be slow going as I want to be sure of everything I plan to do and not have any regrets down the road.
Anyways, on to the vehicle:
2002 Montero Sport XLS
152k miles
Got it on Craigslist for $2600
Timing Belt and water pump were done at 135k.
The AC wasn't blowing cold when I got it and it looked like the compressor was seizing
I decided to change the belts first since they looked well worn and it turned out that the AC Belt wasn't tensioned enough and was slipping around the compressor. AC works great now!
Next thing I did was take off the running boards which made it look much nicer
So that's where I'm at now.
My plans now are to upgrade the suspension and get new tires. I'd like a mild lift and 32" tires.
Are there any complete suspension kits anybody could recommend? I don't plan on any crazy off road adventures, but I would like to hit some trails and get to remote camping spots.
I'd love input, suggestions, recommendations, anything ya'll wanna share!
Regards,
Sean
