God, I love this bike. First MX I'd ever ridden and it's been a great friend for the past 6 years or so. BUT one in, one out, is a good rule to live by and a new bike means this one needs a new home.

What it is and what it's got:

2003 BMW f650gs Dakar
Taller suspension and bigger front wheel than the standard GS means room to stretch out and an ultra-stable bike offroad. Heated grips and hand guards allow you to easily sip beer at the end of a spring ride. 39,740 miles – all but 15k applied on my watch. It gets ridden so miles will increment up but not by much. Runs great, current Virginia inspection and maintenance, everything works just as it should. Receipts for just about everything I've done to it over time (brakes, chain/sprockets, fixing one very minor oil seep, tires and batteries). Most all work done at the dealer who are pretty good.

Here's what it's got...
  • Stock bike with ABS and heated grips (mmmmm.... toasty...)
  • Touratech adjustable dropped pegs for that perfect sitting-at-a-kitchen-table stance
  • SW Motech pannier racks and tail rack system
  • Medium Pelican case for a topcase set-up – perfect for small items (scarf, gloves, BEEEEER)
  • Cee-Bailey windscreen keeps you out of the wind and stylin'
  • Recent tires with great tread

I'm all about the details ya wanna know...
I've loved this bike and ridden it – all 'round Virginia and North Carolina many, many times. While it's garaged most of the time it certainly isn't a garage queen and the finish is as you'd expect. Plastics are in fine shape (nice and shiny Captain America!) but there is some surface rust here and there. Biggest area of note is the right side engine mount area – but it's surface only and I've been keeping an eye on it (so has the dealer). Chain is good but not all shiny perfect. Smarter mechanics than I have given it a good grade as to condition.

If you're looking for a garage queen this isn't it. If you'd looking for a beater this isn't it, either!

Everything that's supposed to work, works, just as it should. ABS is a blessing and has saved by bacon more than once. Heated grips have kept my bacon alive in temps my momma told me to avoid (I'm a slow learner). The only thing that DOESN'T work is the low gas light as the bulb recently went out... With a average mileage of 50+ it hasn't been a worry at all and is easily changed. The only thing I'd do (if I were you, which I'm not, but still...) would be to replace the front pads at some point as they're close to getting thin. New pads include with the sale.

Asking $3,100obo to make someone very, very happy. Don't need a trade unless you either have an airhead in like condition or are crazy enough to trade off a Ducati Sport Classic. Try me.
