After 8 wonderful years of adventures, “Big Blue” is looking for a new owner.
I purchased this as a cargo van in 2015 (it used to be a dry cleaning delivery van) and converted it to a camper van to live and work out of while I did documentary work. Built by Hilltop Vans and myself, it’s taken me all over California, to British Colombia, and across the country to Maine and back.
This van is turnkey and ready to go adventuring. Just bring your bedding, dishes and cookware, and you're ready to go!
It seats 4 people with seatbelts, sleeps 2 adults in the queen size pullout platform bed, and has a massive garage accessible from the rear doors. The kitchen includes a new sink with manual foot-pump, a Dometic CFX 12-volt fridge, new butcher block countertops, new waterproof LVP flooring, kitchen cabinets, a Goal Zero 1000x electrical system runs lights, fan, fridge, usb, 12v and 110v outlets. It charges from 2 solar panels on the roof, and can also be charged while driving from the van’s alternator, or while plugged into shore power. A dedicated outlet can be used to run a small electric heater while plugged into shore power).
The sink drains to a small greywater tank under the van, with a dump valve that can be left open or closed, depending upon where you're camping.
The build was done right - with a layer of sound deadening, a layer of 1/4” reflectix insulation, a layer of 2” denim insulation, a layer of vapor barrier, and 1/4” plywood paneling with natural finish. Framing is 2x2 lumber with 1/2" birch plywood for all cabinetry, and a Vermont whey-based finish for no off-gassing.
FULL LIST OF FEATURES:
• Queen size bed (pulls out on track over rear bench seat, stows for driving)
• Kitchen with sink, propane stove, drawers, cabinets and upper jar/basket storage
• 2 captains chairs with swivel bases and seat covers
• Rear bench seat with seatbelts for 2
• Leather wrapped steering wheel
• Headliner shelf for linen storage
• Privacy curtain and window coverings for all windows (think stealth camping)
• 12 gallons freshwater storage (2 reliant jerry cans under kitchen counter)
• 3 gallon greywater tank w/ exterior dump valve
• 2 pedestal tables (1 round bistro table, 1 laptop table)
• 25’ shore power cable
• 25’ freshwater refill hose
• Goal Zero 1000x electrical system (runs fan, lights and fridge)
• Fan-Tastic Fan / Skylight with thermostat
• Triple Vantech roof rack with pads for boards, kayaks, lumber, etc.
• Rear ladder for roof access
• 200w solar on roof rack
• Bluetooth stereo/cd/radio with upgraded Alpine Speaker cabinets in rear (includes hands-free calling feature)
• Tow hitch (installed by uHaul) with 7-pin and 4-pin trailer connectors (tows up to 5,000 lbs - IE a small boat, utility trailer or camper)
• Trailer brake controller
• Tire chains for snow
• RV windows on both mid-panels
• Fire extinguisher & smoke/CO detector for safety
• Key lockbox
• 2 Remote Key Fobs included
These vans are known to go at least 500K miles - and are called the “million mile sprinters” because some run long after that. Especially since the transmission, cooling system and turbocharger were recently replaced, I’d estimate 5-10 more good years of adventuring. Since it's an older van, you'll definitely want to find a good mechanic to deal with the little things that come up, but overall, these vans are very reliable. There is some body minor rust around the edges of the windshield and driver/passenger doors, but none to the frame or underbody. It might be worth taking to a body shop to mitigate some of that rust if you plan to keep the van for a long time.
Recent Services Performed (all records included):

New radiator, hoses + coolant sensors (2022)
