2005 F350 Suspension questions

Alright, i need some help with suspension. I know engines, at least power stroke engines, inside and out, but when it comes to suspension I am a newbie. I read many of the threads on here where guys are custom fabbing suspension systems and am blown away, so hopefully you can pass on some knowledge.

I have a 2" level kit on my F350 with 5100 bilsteins all around but am wondering if I should upgrade to something better. I have 35's on there now and clearance is good. Would I notice a big difference when it comes to a reservoir shock? Are coil overs worth the huge expense? Should I upgrade my factory coils? I don't want to break the budget, but I also want a system that will put up with some abuse. With a f350 CCLB, i won't be doing any rock crawling, but want to get into as much trouble as possible.

Thanks for your advice

i've seen the carli website and those are some sick systems, but I am more interested in the reasoning behind choosing a particular system. I don't even really know what a full size truck like mine is capable of with each system.

i have a front bumper that i bolted it to. It is not ideal as it sticks out in front of the bumper, but it was the best place I had at the time. I am planning on pulling the bumper off and cutting off the cross piece so I can position the light further back.

I agree with you on the lift. I would like to fit 37's on mine with as little lift as possible, but know that will limit the travel of the suspension. That's why I'm trying to learn more about what goes into choosing a suspension system.

Any mods to your 2006?

My understanding is that the Carli systems are the top of the line. I may save my pennies and see if I can get one.

I haven't made any suspension modes to my truck yet.

I've ridden in a F-250 with a Carli 2.5 pintop and full leafs. It's amazing how it soaks up bumps yet maintains a fine road ride.
Pricey but doing it right is worth it if you're keeping the truck.
My friend's '05 Ram 2500 w/aluminum flatbed and Phoenix camper weighs 10,250# wet. Sage Carli built a system for him. He takes it to northwestern Baja several times a year. It handles the Baja highway like a car yet aired down rides super good enabling him to get into spots fast without harming the truck. Save your pennies.
