I know Jeeps are always going to put into the "that ain't a Toyota" category BUT there is poster on the jeep forum that just added a picture of his odometer showing 370,000 miles....he also mentioned that he replaced the seat because he wore it out. He does mention that he does not offroad but still....

here is a post that he recently made on maintenance...

Post 1:

"I have not had any major $$$$ issues. The biggest repair was not knowing about the front differential mount issue on these, and letting it get to far gone, and popping. Which then caused me to strain the transfer case and stretch the chain. So since that time, I make sure if the "pop" starts on the front end, to change the mounts. I have changed them 3 times. I am not a Grampa driver, but I also don't go off roading. I use it in my delivery business. I have put 99% of the miles on the Jeep myself. And I have done 99% of maintenance and repairs. Almost all repairs are done by me, except tire mounting and alignments. And once I had to pay to have AC compressor replaced. If I hear a tick or a squeak or a thump, I investigate, and usually replace things before they go completely broke. Just replaced the original inner and outer tie rods Saturday, and they really were not all that bad to begin with.

I have used Royal Purple fluids in everything for about 200,000 miles now.

I really wish these engines, or the computer, could really tell you the engine hours. Because even though I have a lot of miles, I know I have a lot more idle time. I always have it running when I am out and about. My alarm that I had installed allows me to lock and arm the Jeep while it is running. So it stays running for air or heat purposes.

Overall I am very pleased with it.

If you look back on a thread of mine, I had some "vapor lock" issues, that I have figured out to be an issue with ethanol gas. So I no longer use ethanol gas.

Post 2:

"yes, 3.7 engine.

No major problems at all.

I was unaware of the front differental isolator issues, and let it go too long and stretched the chain in the transfer case due to the slop in the differential. That meant rebuilding the transfer case ($800) and new isolators ($580). The next time the isolators went bad and I let it go to long again, I replaced the isolators myself, and swapped the transfer case with a junkyard one that I got for $200 and a two hour drive, been driving on this transfer case over 150k miles, and it had 65k miles on it when I got it. An i have a spare transfer case in the garage, so If I need it I can rebuild it and swap it out again. Since the tansfer case swap I have replaced the front differential isolators once also.

1 Ac blower motor many miles ago
1 new AC compressor last memorial day
2 new belt tensioners over the years
replaced the alternator and the starter when I hit 300,000 miles, because I did not want them to go out at the wrong time.

Right now she is dirty, needs a detail. I have been building my own house for the last year, and hard to keep it clean with the mud at the jobsite so once I finish it will get a detail job. when clean, she looks great, other than stains on the seats. Just plain water will stain the seats, and it has been this way ever since I bought it 7 years ago this month with 18k miles on it.

K & N drop in filter.

Royal Purple everywhere I can put it.

I really wish I had an hour meter on the engine, because the engine has way more time on it than you would expect for 320,000 miles. There is alot of idle time with the engine running. I would really like to know how many hours the engine has run.

Viper 791xv remote start and alarm, locks and windows integrated into the alarm system.

I really cant think of anything major at all with it. I am very pleased with it.

I do need to replace the driver seat, because of the way I get in and out, I have killed the fabric on it. But I am waiting till I finish the house.

Other than the front differential isolators, I feel that any repair I make is justifiable. I think the isolators should be built better.

Oh, and I also suffer from the leds in the information center not lighting up, many years ago I tried to fix or replace, and was too much money for lights. Junkyard wanted $300 for the whole setup. After 320,000 miles, I have the controls memorized where they are, and dont need them fixed. Plus my laptop in the jeep keeps the interior a little brighter than normal."
