2006 Leaf Springs

Good Afternoon all,

I am looking to replace the leaf springs in my 2006 DCSB. I am not interested in any large amount of lift (or any at all). I am happy with the ride height. I recently loaded up the bed and it sank like a rock. I will be running a topper soon want to prevent any rake or harsh ride. I would like to replace the entire spring pack while keeping the stock ride height. Any suggestions for replacement springs and shocks all around. I have used OME on my previous 2001 Cherokee with no issues. I do not have an issue with OME and would go that way again unless there is something out there.

I have the same issues with my '09. I've had a shell on it since it was new, and even with the TSB leaf pack I have some real sag. While I'm an OME fan, their springs result in more lift than I care to have. When I get around to it (not on my list of near-term plans), I plan to go with a custom solution from a custom spring builder to result in increased capacity with little change in ride height. I'll probably go with Alcan, but there are plenty of other options such as Deaver or National Spring.

deadbeat....if you dont mind me asking. What topper do you have? I am trying to decide between a cab high and a mid rise style.

I have a Leer 100XR cab high model. I've had no complaints with it quality-wise, but in retrospect, a mid-rise would have been a lot more useful.

I was in a similar situation with my springs. I ended up swapping in the Icon AAL and it has been good so far. Ideally I would go with Alcans but the the AAL was a budget friendly compromise as long as you aren't looking for much lift. I did the swap in October when I got the flippac. I had another taco with a flippac and with the Dakar springs and more lift. I miss the Dakars but not the lift. My 30s have mellowed me out:)

If you don't have the TSB Springs, I would go to a custom builder and have them build you a 4 pack set of springs with more beef to them. If you have the TSB springs and want to try a cheaper solution, Helwig has an add a leaf style spring for your truck for less than 100 bucks on spring connection. I was just looking at it last night. Adjustable for loads and or you can set it and forget it. I have a set of 1000 pound Helwig springs on my truck, stiffened the back up just right. Not too rough, still have a bit of rake with a cap and prob 300 pounds of recovery gear in the bed. When I load it down, it goes to level or slightly squatted, not flat.

Cheers,
Jorge
