Although Coleman/Fleetwood market this as an "Off Road" camper, it is really more of a gravel road/logging road camper. It works well on forest service roads going to some of my favorite camp sites.

Thanks Scott and mph. It is a great trailer, I really like the amount of room inside compared to the small slide in campers I have owned. However I don't find that I am using it enough to justify keeping it, and I plan to go back to a pop-up camper.
Cheers

I had one of these and I also have to add that it's a great pop up. High clearance and a good base camp for wheeling. It's very comfortable and still rugged.

Mark, do you know anyone who has removed the ATV tray and shortened the tongue on the E2 | E3?

Yes, yet the E1 and Cobalt lack the shower which is KEY in my upcoming decision. :)

The E2 box is not significantly larger than the E1, track IIRC is still the same, just the ATV tray. Thinking if I reduced that and had a proper welding shop shop the tongue (and reduce tongue weight which is a little on the high side of the ratio), I could be in business. What do you think having owned an E2.

I certainly enjoyed the amount of interior space in the E2. And since I don't have an atv, I would be able to live with a small front cargo area. I would not illiminate the front cargo area completely, it is very handy for firewood, bikes, etc.
Your other option may be to build an off road flat bed trailer, and then mount any pop up trailer (minus the chassis) on the flat bed. This would give you a wider selection of donor pop-up trailers to choose from. Plus you could make it removable, so that the trailer could be used as a utility trailer.

The problem is it won't fit in the garage; the E1 would. Other issue (or so I speculate) is that the tongue:gross weight ratio seems a little high, would like to lower that

I don't think the wife would take well to that getup. If it were just me &| the wee ones, I'd have a cobalt, but happy wife = happy life. Shower makes wifey happy.
