Hello all~
I am brand new to this portal, so I hope I might get some help. I am living in Panama and have an 07 Hilux 4dr 4WD pick-up. As I use the truck as my surfing vehicle (driven on the beach), as well as daily driver, I need to mount my spare tire outside the truck, and the roof won't do, as that's where I hang my surfboards. I found a very nice bumper/spare tire/jerry can set-up from Kaymar, in Australia, but to purchase it here would cost $4300US, which is WAY out of my range. If anyone can direct me to plans for building one, or a reasonably priced similar unit, I'd sure appreciate the help.
Also, I was wondering if there are any actual structural or dimensional differences between the Tacoma and the Hilux. I know the Hilux has the 3.0L turbo diesel, not available in the US, but don't know if a Tacoma bumper (or other components are compatable, and would mount up to my Hilux. certainly appreciate your input on this.
