2007 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Recall

For Tacoma's that were built from 5/30/07 to 6/4/07.

Summary:
ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, A SECTION OF THE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY CAST.

Consequence:
THE FRONT SIDE OF THE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT COULD SEPARATE AT THE JOINT AND COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE ROAD SURFACE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH.

This supposedly only affects around 100 or so built... check yours and make sure!

Wasn't there a similar recall on the Tundras, the prop shafts were made by Dana? (Is that correct?)

I think so, they (Dana) are also the makers of the frames that have had the motor mount issues... maybe even the ring and pinions that were bad.

It was better when all the parts were made in Japan :(
