The boss handed me the keys to my new work truck today. A 2008 Chevy Colorado extended cab with Z71 Offroad Package. It has a trailer hitch and 7 pin connector. So far so good but I cannot find any information on how to install my trailer brake controller. My 2004 F150 came with a trailer towing package and a wiring harness that allowed my to simply plug in the trailer brakes. The Chevy manual makes no mention of such an item but it is rated for a 4000 lb trailer (my trailer is 3000 lbs wet and has brakes on both axles). Can anybody tell me where to look and what part number I require?

2008 Colorado Trailer Brake Harness

I just got back from the dealer (20Koil change) and found that although the owners manual refers to a wiring harness (4 wires, blunt cut, taped to instrument panel harness) there is in fact no harness installed (******!).
I guess I know what I am doing this weekend. The funny thing is that there is a fuse in the underhood panel labelled "Trailer Brakes" and a reference to check the owners manual:coffee:

:sombrero: Not much I can do for the GM wiring, but

The general trailer wiring calls for the, "BLUE" wire, to be for brake power

My trailer is light enough so I don't use the aux brakes!

Good luck
