I did an inflation calculation on the $63200.
That's equivilent to about $48179 in 1995 dollars. Guess how much my 1995 Land Cruiser sold for according to my window sticker and stealer paperwork that I have on my rig?
$47628.
Factor in that the nearest year I could use to calcuate was 2006, that our dollar is crashing, that the brand new Land Cruiser will only have several options, which were all petty minimal stuff, which means a basic model is the same thing as a nearly decked out model and that my nearly $48,000 Land Cruiser was missing options such as lockers, roof rack, rear spoiler, and tow hitch....and then....
all of a sudden...$63,000 doesn't sound like such a bad deal.
Not to mention all the new electronic goodies that this new rig has that my rig doesn't.
I'm not saying I want one or anything, just that the price really isn't out of line on a historical level.
Personally, I don't think I'd ever replace my 80 with anything but another 80, even if I suddenly became a millionare. Although a newer 100 might serve nicely as a daily driver.
You know it's kind of hard to believe that someone plopped down the equivilient of almost $63000 in today's dollars to buy my 80 when it was new!!!.
