2008 Silverado 1500 Project

Hey all. I've been creeping this forum for sometime and have inevitably decided to pursue a dream of on and off the road adventure around western Canada and Alaska. I plan on having the rig ready for some serious fun this summer. I know there is better platforms out there but I love the truck, it's powerful and there plenty of aftermarket support. Current mods are only a levelling kit in the front, nitto trail grapplers 285/65/18 aka just under 33". And most recently a Leer cap.

The focus is on the truck and only the truck for the next few months. Single and some money to burn hahaha. Invest.? Anyways.. I want to get serious with the suspension. I don't want a towering truck full of spacer blocks. I want functional suspension with minimal lift. I know I'm going to pay$ but it's worth it to me. I definitely want adjustable coilovers up front for up to 3" of lift (icon, king or fox.) upper control arms will be replaced and depending on cv angles I may get a dif drop bracket. Not a fan of body lifts but I hear a minimal 1.25" body lift added too the suspension lift will allow for a larger tire and much better clearance. It's a tough decision to make but GM has terrible squarish wheel wells that put me in a corner when deciding on this stuff. You have to be quite particular of these low lift larger tire setups. And no I don't want 6 inch and 35"+ . Center of gravity just looks too high for my personal liking.

Possible kits: camburg/fox
Icon stage 4
4" BDS lift with Fox.
Opinions?

The rest of the dream

Fab fours front winch bumper
Warn winch
x4 maxtrax

Custom fabricated rear bumper with 2 swing gates a folding table, up to 4 nato jerry cans and a high jack mount.

Fabricated rock sliders

Frontrunner slimline roof racks on cap and truck cab

Roof top tent

1500 bed slide or cargoslide*

Dual battery setup

Onboard air

Navigation will be run off and iPad 2 with a ram mount and wireless gps

12 volt fridge on an Adventure trailers sliding mount with partner propane stove.

Road shower

An awning would be nice but at the bottom for a reason.

To me this seems a solid start.

Looking forward to this as I have an 08 Silverado as well. No 4wd though so it's got to go eventually. Check out Mazulla. If I was staying with gm 1500 that's where I would go.

I checked them out, it would be very advantageous to go with them if I had a 2 wheel drive like yourself. They have some sweet stuff. However I would only be looking at there performance line which is very comparable to the other kits that I listed. Great to have another option to think about. Decisions decisions.
