2010 Xterra Offroad

Well, my wife just got herself another Xterra. She is a Nissan girl and has owned a 97 Sentra, 2002 Xterra, 2004 Titan and now a 2010 Xterra with the Offroad goodies. She has always wanted a 4x4 and I talked her into getting the Offroad version because of the rear locker and the offroad lights. I have a Rubicon and have fallen in love with the "easy" button :smiley_drive:

Anyway, my Rubicon is built for rocks and far too small for the family plus gear. Her Titan was huge but only 2WD so the fun factor was limited to being able to tow our HTT. I think this Xterra gives us everything we need for Four Season Family Explorations here in AZ. The only thing I'm unsure of is the tow rating. The Xterra is rated for 5k pounds and my 24ft HTT is 3500 pounds empty. Honestly I wouldn't be all that upset if I had to sell my HTT and buy some sort of an Expedition Trailer with RTT  It would open up a lot more options for camping.

So here are some pics....

Honestly, other than some mud terrain tires she will probably stay stock. Right off the lot this Xterra is pretty darn capable. If I feel like really "playing" I'll just take the Rubicon....

And here's a shot of our 24' HTT that may or may not be up for sale ;)

nice!
love the Rubicon but you really need smaller fenders ;)

Yeah, I cut up the Rubicon like 6 months after I bought it lol I'm lucky to live in AZ where Wranglers are classified as station wagons.....therefore don't fall under the tire coverage laws for trucks :costumed-smiley-007

Be very careful with towing that long of a trailer with the X. The capacity isn't the worry, it's the braking and capability of the tow vehicle to handle the weight shift in an emergency braking situation.

I wouldn't tow any trailer in my wife's X that I wouldn't feel comfortable doing in a Jeep. My Frontier OTOH... Lets just say it's amazing what a few extra inches of wheelbase will do for vehicle towing stability.

I hear you. Even with the Titan I ran a brake controller and weight distribution hitch, and will do the same with the Xterra.

I was thinking about selling my 24 footer anyway because of the monthly storage fees and what not. If I got an expedition trailer with RTT then I could keep it in the garage and be ready to take-off on a whim. Plus I could tow it behind either the Rubicon or the Xterra (depending on the adventure!).

very nice!

With a spacer and shackle lift and 33`s you can have a lot of fun in that thing. Not the same as your Jeep, but a lot more comfortable.

Enjoy it!

have you checked out www.thenewx.org

Actually I have checked out that site....lots of good info! Comfort is a big thing for the family. My wife HATES riding in the Rubicon so it's usually my son and I or just myself. I'm a family man and I want to spend time with the whole family. With this we can be together and still visit all of the cool places that AZ is hiding in the backcountry.

do the roof lights make a difference? Just always woundered if they make any difference. also how do they turn on (switch)

The roof lights are crazy bright considering the size. The covers have some sort of a magnetic latch on them. BOTH covers have to be removed and the high beams have to be on in order for the roof lights to turn on. The sales guy didn't warn my wife and I that he was turning them on and he almost blinded us. They are wired to the cab and there is a push button to turn them on. I can't wait for a night trip so that I can try them out. I haven't read the manual yet so I don't know the type of bulbs, but I can say that they remind me of the Rampage H4's that I have installed on my Rubicon.

roof lights OR 2010

turned them on when I was in the "country" one night on a rural higway, no traffic. WOW. I was impressed.

the pic of the OFFROAD emblem shows quite a bit of "orange peel" for a brand new vehicle.....

Otherwise, nice ride!
