2013 Raptor Build Progress

Just started building out my Raptor today after 3 years of contemplating what I wanted to do with it. Going on a 2 week trip through CO and WY starting next week so I figured it was about time to do something, and this seemed to fit my needs!

Obviously this is a build in progress so Im trying to come up with some more ideas to make it better. Looking at pneumatic struts to raise the plywood platform to access storage underneath and an awning, but dont really know where to start.

The shell is going in for a matching wrap next week but here’s where I’m at so far.

As far as the gas struts go. You need to figure out how much weight you are lifting and how high you want to lift it. Mounting the struts is easy just make sure you get a strut that bolts on not the ball and socket type. To figure out the weight just use a digital fish scale lift up on the bed and decided the weight by 2. And there you go. You may want to look at a couple of latches to keep the bed down when your traveling. There's a chance for the bed to lift up unless you get some struts that don't lift the total weight of the platform. Good luck and nice truck.

Love it dude!

Thanks! I'm excited to not have to spend 30+ nights a year in a tent! Anyone had a similar setup that has any suggestions on sticking things to the bare fiberglass? All my velcro for the reflectix window cutouts I made has fallen off within a week of install
