ebg18t, I had a 2006 Tacoma TRD with the standard "off road" package and it served me very well for the type of travel / off - road I did, I am confident the T/X TRD will be just fine as is. Yes bead-lock would have been nice but I can tell you, I have lived overseas for 14 years in places like Africa, South America, Asia and all pretty remote locations and probably didn't see more than 2 trucks with bead-locks, and they were european travelers not locals. The locals do fine in off-road remote driving with standard wheels / tires. I suppose if I had lots of money burning a hope in my pocket I would add many other options to my Tacoma but for now I will see how it performs!
I plan to take it out this weekend and get it muddy!

Great looking Tacoma. What part of KY are you from? Richmond, KY here.
Let's go wheeling sometime.

Looks sweet. If you plan on going anywhere with dust it would be a good idea to attempt to dustproof the truck bed. I say attempt because it is a challenge with so many little spots for dust to come in from.

ETAV8R, I just spent 10 days camping in the Pisgah National Forest with the Tacoma / ARE Topper combination. I drove on some dirt and gravel roads a bit and didn't have too much problem with the dust! I know the desert will be a challenge but all in all it was better than I expected!
