2013 to be short year for Grand Cherokee

Automotive News is reporting that the 2013 model year will be just 6 months long for the Grand Cherokee. According to insiders, the Grand Cherokee with 8 speed automatic and diesel engine options will be unveiled as a 2014 model at the Detroit Auto Show in mid January, 2013.

Other Jeep models will have the standard 12 month model year for 2013.

The 3.0 Diesel has been available for delivery in Australia since about November last year (2011)......it's not a Mercedes engine though, but a 3.0 V6 Fiat owned Motori VM.......... The 4 cylinder 2.5 VMs in XJ Cherokees were not very reliable engines, but the 2.8 s in JK's and current Cherokees/Libertys are supposed to be quite OK.

Currently they run a Mercedes 5 speed auto......next year (MY 2013) they'll have an 8 speed.
