2014 JKUR – Bushwacker Flares – 35’s – No Lift

Just sharing a shot for those considering this kind of setup. This is my 2014 JKUR with Bushwacker Flat Flares, BFGoodrich 35x12.50R17 KM2’s on silver AEV Pintler and NO LIFT. Factory rear pinch came trimmed from factory. I trimmed the factory rock rails and also the front plastic air dam. Based on research I don’t expect to rub at full flex and I look forward to finding out soon for sure. Looks like it will be very close on the rear bumper. Not worried about the front bumper as I’ve already got a JCR ordered from Jason at Krawl Off-Road. Picked up the Bushwackers and AEV from David at Northridge 4x4 and the BFG’s from my local 4WP store (610 South in Houston). More pics at txjeepers.com

Nice! Looks good OP! I'll be doing this setup as well soon, got the fenders, need to install them. Then I'll get the 35's/ 1ton steering. Don't really need a lift right now so I might as well save the money for other mods.

Cool! I've been considering doing this to my Cherokee. I have a 3.5" lift w/ 31x10.5 tall tires and want to up grade to 33" tall tires but want to stay at 3.5"s of lift. Plus if I stay at 3.5" I don't have mess with installing a slip yoke eliminator.

More pictures on my site txjeepers.com. Here is the best picture I have of the factory trimmed pinch seam. Also, note that this picture shows the large amount of rub I have in the rear. I took the Jeep by a local 4x4 shop and ramped it. At full stuff in the rear with no bumpstop it is rubbing big time. You can see that in the picture. I had some one inch bumpstops at home and I installed them. Went back and ramped it again. It reduced the rub but it still rubs along the pinch seam area. Its rubbing the inner area of the Buschwacker. It's too much to live with and acts like a brake. So anyway, I'm thinking about trimming the Bushwackers a little or keep adding bumpstop. Maybe a little of both. I've ordered my Old Man Emu springs and shocks and according to ARB USA tech I don't need bumpstops to protect the shocks with their standard load setup, so I want to keep bumpstop to a minimum. That is a large part of why I went with flats. Probably find someone who can weld, etc to help me turn my one inch bumps into 1.5" and see if that does the trick. BTW, Bushwacker claims in a blog that they did almost identical setup on a 2013 and had no rubbing. That doesn't make any sense to me. Not sure if I can link on this forum or not so just search "bushwacker blog 35's jeep rubicon" and you'll find it.

Not necessarily true. Every Cherokee is different than the other when it comes to lifted and SYE. Some need them at 2", while others don't need them at 4.5".

Different wheels/backspacing could be a controlling factor.

If you can get 35's with just Bushwhacker then that means I can get 37's with 2.5" lift and flat fenders easily. Looks good!!

Maybe, but doubt it. As you can see in the picture it's hitting about in the middle. Pintler are 5.2" backspacing. Even with 4.5" backspacing (common backspacing for many wheels on lifted JK's) that's not going to move the tire out far enough not to rub. I agree though individual results might vary. I also think vendors need to be careful with what they blog and statements they make.
