Did you figure this out yet?
I went down another rabbit hole as my noise comes and goes, probably randomly, but always with higher temperatures and acceleration. Some really deep forum reading pointed out that the metal heater lines coming in through the firewall can vibrate together. The more I thought about it, all of my conditions and symptoms could be explained by that. On a hot morning I went out and pulled the glove box, grabbed the metal lines (make sure engine is cool or you get burned) and shook them. They definitely have enough movement to make contact. 4” of heater hose cut and slit to slide over them and jammed in place… no noise in the last 100 miles.
This will be crazy if my 80k mile and nearly $1400 saga was cured by 4” of heater hose! Perhaps the purpose of my life is to serve as a warning to others?
An additional thought, some aftermarket bumper/winch installs relocate the vacuum pump from way out front to a spot just under the master cylinder. You might hear that running occasionally?
