Hey all,
Sorry if this has been addressed in a previous thread. This is my first post here on EP. I'm preparing for a long road trip with my 2014 Grand Cherokee and have a question regarding the Mopar cross rails that come with the factory rails of the 2014 Grand Cherokee.
According to Mopar, the rails have a 150 lbs load limit per bar. HOWEVER, the rails have a curve to them! I spoke with a rep at AutohomeUS who opined that an RTT would potentially bend the rails and compromise their integrity. Also, mounting a flat RTT to a slightly curved rail could pose it's own problems.
Has anyone ever loaded a hard shell RTT on these factory rails with success? Thoughts and or opinions welcome! Also, curious about opinions of Yakima or Thule (or anything) fittings that could fit on the 2014 GC factory side rails allowing a flat bar across the top. Thanks in advanced!
